Zero-Waste Amsterdam 2040
Imagine regular citizens, researchers, businesses in areas like waste, water, energy; municipalities, ministries – all co-own a piece of regional economy; and get financial benefits while also reducing negative impacts in a future-proof manner.
We estimated that our solution would save roughly 60% on expenses for all involved, eliminating waste taxes, and capturing up to 5% (€10BLN) of the Noord Holland food-water-energy-waste market. Extra is a reduction of CO2 emissions by up to 19K Giga tons per year. We expect this transition to take about 15 years, which is roughly the lifespan of 80% of the strategic regional infrastructure. Importantly, this can all happen without causing disruptions to the daily lives of the people and businesses. We need €5MLN for 2 years for a pilot in a hood of 10K people, and later a loan €200MLN to scale it up in Amsterdam.

Biowaste-Based Dutch Economy
The existing biowaste management approach is more about waste control than resource optimization. Most biowaste ends up incinerated, digested, or transformed into low-quality fertilizers, which are then exported as waste. This system is riddled with inefficiencies, and stakeholders bear high costs.
We envision a biowaste system that operates as a fully connected cascading system, inspired by the Dutch ‘polder economy’ heritage. However, instead of building dams to hold back water, we are connecting biowaste from households to provinces, turning it into resources i.e. reduce water salinization, renew fresh water aquifers and remediate & build healthy soil.
Circular Biowaste system is envisioned as part of larger nature-based infrastructure that supports biodiversity, and delivers clean water to all member states down the river. It is not waste, until we waste it!

To give you an estimation of our prices we’ve evaluated our past cases and projects, and provided a range (marked with * below). On average, our prices are within 5-7% of a project budget. If you don’t have a budget, we can always discuss a partnership and the terms. When it comes to estimation of the price, different parameters come into play i.e. do you want a simple text with findings or a ‘sexy’ report with extras, should we manage expectations of 100 stakeholders or 5, how much money do you plan to make from our service, etc. However, there is never a discussion about how holistic should be the model, it always is, and always low-cost!

We always start with a call. In 30 min, we will get to learn about your system, select a problem and explore our approach to your problem-solving. If we agree on a project, the next 15 min will cover data sources (experts, reports, etc.) and activities.
